Top 100 Reading Challenge
In May just before we moved to Australia I happened to be in a bookshop (Whitcoulls) home in Christchurch that promote the top 100 books as recommended by New Zealanders. I picked up one of the book lists and thought 'I've read a lot of these, I wonder just how many' so the pen came out and the list started being cross out, I had read maybe 15 off the list. But it gave me an idea to do a bit of a 365 project, I know that I couldn't read a book a day for a year (I wish I had that much time) but thought it would be pretty good if I could knock out the remaining books on the list within 12 months.
So I started reading (and crossing off).
Its been good, there are books I have read that I would have never thought of reading before which I have loved, books that have challenged me and I'll be honest some I have had to make myself read but crossing them off and thinking I will never have to read it again is great.
This list is also helping me get a better understanding of what I like (and don't like) which I find really interesting.
Books I have LOVED so far
The Passage by Justin Cronin
It is about the end of the world as we know it because genetically engineered vampires take over (sounds stupid but it is AMAZING)
The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons
Paullina Simons is my favourite author and the Bronze Horseman is my all time favourite book
The Millennium Trilogy/Harry Potter/ The Hunger Games Trilogy
All very mainstream (and very different to each other) but these books are popular for a reason, they make you want to keep reading
